Happy cloud

Hello all, how are you?
We had some lovely summer days lately, but the rain has come back and everything looks a bit grey. This is how the summer is in England, rain and sunshine. The tip is to make the most of it.

So, today, I decided to make something out of a dark day: a happy cloud.

Happy cloud

I used some cuddly and soft fur fabric for the front and I made the face with simple embroidery stitches. For the back, terry cotton fabric, which is very soft too.

Happy cloud

My girl loves to play with it and we definitely had a lot of fun. She even refused to go to bed without it.

Tea towel

Here is another work using a lino block printing. I used my little bird again, but this time on fabric.
I’ll never get tired of this little bird.

Although it’s more difficult than printing on paper, I love this technique. It gives the fabric a rustic look.

Lino printing

It’s been nearly a month since my last post. Yes, time flies...
The summer has arrived to Cambridge and we’re trying to enjoy it as much as we can.
Here in England, you never know how long it’s going to last, one day it’s boiling hot and the next day the cold is back again. Besides, I also had problems with my computer but, fingers crossed, it’s back to normal now.
During this time, I did some lino printing.
This is another version of my bird (you can see the other version here).
Actually this drawing comes from one of my bird’s original sketches.

Lino printing

I found that lino is much harder to cut than the rubber stamps I’m used to and it takes a lot more time too.

Lino printing

I did some postcards and I did some printing on fabric as well (I’ll show you next time).

And here it is, my little bird sending some love.

Hope you are enjoying the good weather too. Have a lovely weekend!

Alice in Wonderland’s Bag

I finished a new bag.
Alice in wonderland’s bag

This one is very especial to me, because I’ve always loved Alice in Wonderland. I got my book one Christmas -I was eight- and I loved it. It was the most wonderful present I could have. I was amazed by the illustrations, they were not your average children cartoons.
I’ve kept that book over the years and I still have it. It’s one of my little treasures.
When I saw this fabric I couldn’t resist, I had to buy it. It was a big panel but a little bit small for a bag, so I cut it and I added some black fabric on the sides. For the inside a polka dot fabric with a pocket in black. The result was a big tote bag.

I love the white and black combination. It’s going be very difficult to say goodbye to this one...
